Frequently Asked Questions | |
When will the PS3 be released?
Currently, we don't know when the PS3 will be release, no one does. We can tell you, however, that Sony is trying to release it in 2005. Recent news has come to us saying that the Cell Technology will not be develped until late 2005, so the release of the PS3 will be delayed until early 2006 or mid-2006.
How much will the PS3 cost?
As of right now, there is no set price for the PS3. There has been talk (and when I say talk I mean it could be complete rumor) that there may possible be two different models of the PS3, a basic one which will be more available because of a lower price, and a more expensive PS3 with more advanced features. Right now, we don't know if this is true, but if it is, there will be two different prices.
Do you have any pictures of the PS3?
We do not have any pictures of the PS3 because there aren't any out. SOny hasn't even started building the console, and if they have decided on a model, they have not released anything yet. On the home page, you can see examples of what some people would like it to look like, but as of right now, no one knows.
Can I play PS2 and PS games on my PS3?
Due to recent reports, we believe that it will be possible to play PS and PS2 games on the PS3. If they could and did for PS2, then I don't see any reason why they wouldn't continue the practice for the PS3. Backwards
compatibility was such a huge success that I don't see why it wouldn't continue.
Will the PS3 have a modem?
Most certainly not. The PS3 will be broadband only.
Will the PS3 use the PS2 Dual Shock controllers?
It is currently unknown what controllers the PS3 will use. Whether or not you can use your current Dual Shock controllers or other controllers purchased from another company is unknown. For what it's worth, we can't imagine Sony changing the controllers or the controller ports much from the current design.
Will the PS3 have a HDD?
From the information we have, yes the PS3 will have a hard drive and there is a good chance it will come standard with the console. As for the storage size of the HDD, that is yet to be determined.
Will I be able to play PS3 games on my PS2?
Most certainly not. Even if it could read them and play them, the technology or the games would probably overload the system.
WIll the controller be the same?
Right now, not enough information is available to tell whether or not Sony will change the controller. I personally hope that they keep the same style but also release another style with other functions in it. I guess we'll just have to see.
How many controller ports will there be?
As of right now, this is currently unknown. I will say however that it will be more than 1 (at least I hope so).
